The Writings Only Capture Moments in Time
There's an interesting thing about writing...
Whenever I write it's only capturing a state of my being, my thinking, my focus at that moment in time. I'm pretty sure this is true for all people.
The problem is that, for some reason, most people seem to take "the written word" so seriously. Waaaay too seriously in my opinion.
People seem to lack the ability to understand that every person is in a continual state of change in that they are always clarifying their own thinking to some degree.
Their "conclusions" about things can, and often do, change over time.
But that's the key right there... it takes TIME. It's not about isolated bits here and there taken out of context. What someone wrote 10 years ago. Or what they wrote in a paragraph or two yesterday.
Too many times I have seen people judging others for things they wrote in the past. Sometimes just ridiculously far back.
But the fact is I know that at least for myself I can write something yesterday and if I wrote it again right now it would likely be different in some ways.
I'm thinking my writing would emphasize different points today than I did yesterday. And tomorrow, perhaps different ones again.
That's just the way it is.
This is the problem with the Internet and humans at least as of now.
We put something on the Internet and at that moment we have lost all control over it. We can unpublish something but that does not mean it's gone.
And all of this combined with the crazy obsession with surveillance and otherwise invading privacy (now I see them going after VPNs in the USA) by the authoritarian parts of government (and I don't mean that in any political way that some might be thinking) it creates a real risk to some degree.
Because anything can be taken out of context to "paint" an inaccurate picture of someone if someone else wants to do that.
Anyway, I did not intend for this to become some gloom n doom post. lol
Really, I am thinking about how everything we write... not just what I write, but even when I read the blogs here and elsewhere... I always recognize that it only represents what the person believed or was thinking or focusing on or even exploring "out loud" at the time they wrote that piece.
And it does NOT mean they will have the same view or same focus even 1 hour later and certainly not a year or decade or more later!
That should be expected! It's completely normal to be continually growing, evolving as a person over time.
And I think it's important for people to one day finally understand that. Maybe just get past this need to continually try to find fault and judge others to begin with. But that's another topic for another time.
Ah well, one thing I've learned in my life is... what one person thinks about another person is exactly what they CHOOSE to think about them and it actually has absolutely nothing to do with that other person.
Again, that's yet another post for another time.
