I've Always Believed In And Proven The Power Of "Fresh Starts"
Today I read 2 blog posts (blogging history and web domains) that, although from different angles, seemed to be talking about the same thing.
Most people keep things for decades or even a lifetime.
This applies to physical, digital and emotional things.
Although there was a time I could relate more to keeping things... I'm mostly the exact opposite of this.
I have long believed in the power of a fresh start and leaving the past behind.
Long ago I sold and gave away everything I owned, except for what fit in my car, and moved from the place I was born and raised... leaving everything behind - physical & mental baggage, and most people.
I was broke, wanted to reinvent myself and live in a place with more opportunities.
I made a completely fresh start and my life improved dramatically in the following years.
Until recently, that was the best decision I've ever made.
Last year, I finished clearing out my home of 20+ years, including photos, old computers and masses of C64 & Amiga floppies. Things held onto for decades.
It included websites until finally I canceled the one that I first registered back in 1999 and held for 25+ years.
For me, this was all a part of setting myself free.
I quit my job, cleared my house and gave my vehicles away.
I moved to Southeast Asia and began my new life.
