Working On a Generic Disclaimer
I personally have always thought the fact that anyone writing a blog even needs to consider these disclaimers shows how ridiculous things have become.
Still... I figured I will go ahead and make a generic disclaimer.
I do NOT want some legalese mumble jumble.
No. Instead I want something that is crystal clear and idiot-proof.
As of now I have come up with this.
IMPORTANT -- I am NOT an authority of any kind
- I am NOT a medical professional, a financial advisor, a life coach, or any other authority figure.
- I am a person who is simply sharing my personal experiences, interpretations, and opinions.
- Any assumptions YOU make that connect me to expertise are entirely misplaced and are YOUR own doing.
- Any decisions that YOU make - whether YOU based them on YOUR interpretations of my writings or not - are YOUR RESPONSIBILITY ALONE.
- YOU - the READER - are ALWAYS responsible for YOUR actions and YOUR choices.
If YOU cannot accept full responsibility for any negative outcomes of ANY and ALL KINDS based on the choices YOU make and the actions YOU take, please DO NOT READ FURTHER.
By continuing to read my writing, you are agreeing that you understand this disclaimer and accept all responsibility onto yourself and place no fault and no responsibility onto me - an average person who is simply sharing my personal experiences, interpretations, and opinions.
I am also considering that maybe every few paragraphs in my blog posts I will put a reminder...
Just an example paragraph here that would be expressing some kind of personal experience, interpretation or opinion of mine. There would actually be 2 or 3 such paragraphs.
Just another example paragraph continuing to share the personal experience, interpretation or opinion of mine.
IMPORTANT: I AM NOT AN AUTHORITY FIGURE - I am just an average person sharing my personal experiences, interpretations, and opinions. In fact, I do not know why YOU even chose to read MY writing.
And everything continues on with the paragraph continuing to express my own interpretation, opinion or personal experience.
Basically the flow would be continually broken up by the inclusion of the above reminder again and again.
Actually, I must say that by taking the time to write this... my thinking has changed on it.
It's a way that I -- as a non-authority just average person sharing my personal experiences, interpretations and opinions -- can potentially help to create a positive change in the world by continually reminding people of something that most people learned before they even became adults.
