The Disconnect Between The Offline And Online Worlds

Even though I'm very aware of it, I still find it strange how different the online world is from the offline world.

Offline, privacy is still considered important and kind of taken for granted.

Online, it has become normalized for people to not expect much, if any, privacy.

Online, people are often (sometimes multiple times per day) ranting about politics.

Offline, at least in my experience, this happens very rarely.

The people I know in the USA are busy actually living their lives. Busy working jobs, dealing with "life", taking care of themselves and their family.

They don't have time to think about political views and, even when they do, they consider it a waste of time.

Instead they focus that time on important things such as hobbies, or with family and friends, or maybe even just relaxing watching a movie or reading a book.

It's like there are two completely different worlds.

The Online World of some truth and a lot of drama, deception and bs.

Turn that off and we have...

The Offline World that is, more or less, the same as it's always been in many ways.

Of course, life has ups and downs. Things get better. Things get worse.

It's always been that way.

The Online World would have people believe everything is so terrible, worse than it has ever been.

Online is like experiencing someone else's warped mind of false beliefs presented as "the truth".
